International Relations and Protocol Department

The International Relations and Protocol Department is in charge of:

- ensuring the protocol and organisation of receptions and official events, whether for the reception of foreign public figures or for delegations or for national ceremonies;

- coordinating and monitoring the international action of the French Senate.

The Department thus ensures:

- the monitoring of the missions of the Senate’s delegations abroad;

- the coordination of the relations with international institutions and foreign parliaments, and the monitoring of decentralised cooperation;

- the secretariat of the Senate’s delegations to the interparliamentary assemblies (IPU, APF, PAM, PABSEC);

- the setting up of interparliamentary friendship groups and the coordination of their activities;

- the support to the specific mission of the Senators representing French citizens living abroad.



The four Units within the International Relations and Protocol Department

The International Relations and Protocol Department is composed of four units contributing to the development of the international action of the French Senate:

- The Unit for Protocol and Reception of Public figures

- The Unit for the Presence of France in the World

- The Interparliamentary Cooperation Unit

- The Interparliamentary Assemblies Unit
